BIM

ECO-RES recognise the advantages Building Information modelling can bring to both clients and the design / construction team.

In response to UK Government initiatives and client requirements, all Eco-Res projects are designed to BIM level 2 standard. A fully coordinated approach is adopted across the design and delivery team including the tracking of change orders, coordination, and clash detection, estimating and cost control and whole life carbon assessments.

The use of modern methods of construction requires an integrated approach to the use of digital technology in order to fully realise the benefits of prefabrication in construction.

BIM has the potential to transform the FM industry. BIM strategy requires that all assets are “tagged”, which ensures that non graphical BIM data can be extracted into an operational and maintenance database to provide a complete asset register.

The design team can produce collaborative BIM output data in recognised IFC format (Industry Foundation Classes) a recognised ‘Open Standards” approach.

Should clients require it a CAFM system can be created from the BIM model, to enable the facilities management of the building(s). It has been demonstrated that having a BIM model asset / facilities management system can save circa 30% of facilities management costs over the life of a building – a significant sum.
